Factur-X is a hybrid electronic invoice format: a human-readable PDF/A-3 file with an embedded structured XML file carrying the same data. It thus combines the readability of a traditional invoice with the automation of an electronic invoice.
Factur-X is the French equivalent of the German ZUGFeRD format and is based on the European EN 16931 standard. It is one of the formats adopted for the rollout of mandatory business-to-business (B2B) electronic invoicing in France.
